So what does this have to do with 2 millimeters? It doesnât matter where your starting point is when it comes to our level of health and wellbeing. Just go from where you are and find something that makes your tomorrow just a tiny bit better than you were yesterday.Â

Just an extra glass of water that you drink today to hydrate your cells. Or a 5 minute walk outside that gives you more fresh air and large muscle movement. Or giving yourself 15 minutes more sleep to recover from a stressful day instead of watching TV. Or spending just 2 minutes breathing deeply and consciously to bring more oxygen to your brain and body. Or adding a few more greens to your meal to nourish your body with stronger building blocks. Or eating a smaller piece of cake to help your immune system not get so bogged down from sugar.Â

The choices are endless! And they are SMALL things. Things that are easy to do and easy to incorporate, no matter how little time or money you have. A tiny step forward - only 2mm a day! - will have a HUGE impact in the long run for you and your health!Â

No one will ever care about YOUR health as much as you do. No one can get you to a healthier future but you. And we all know that our health is our wealth!Â

So, what will you pick today to make your tomorrow just a tiny bit healthier?

Â

Thawing Out Your Body For Spring http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2020/03/11/thawing-out-your-body-for-spring/ Wed, 11 Mar 2020 11:18:57 -0400
In the midst of the winter weather, one thing is almost certain for the majority of people I know. We all have become a little bit settled into our winter bodies. We havenât gotten outside as much, which in turn has slowed us down almost into hibernation mode. It is easy to succumb to the feelings of warmth which will encompass us nicely sitting with our warmest pajamas and our fuzziest blanket all while sipping on our favorite tea. But, we must try to keep a birdâs eye view that spring is always just a few months away. In doing so we can set ourselves up for the most productive and healthy start to the season.

Â

Besides proper nutrition and exercises we must also look to the spine to maintain our health. By ensuring that our nerves are free and clear of interference (subluxation), we can focus our efforts on maintaining a healthy body that is ready to go on a momentâs notice. It will be far better at adapting to internal and external stressors and will also be functioning at a much higher level. By looking to the spine for health, we are going directly to the source of how every cell, bone, and tissue gets its information. So, if by getting adjusted can keep it working at its best, we ultimately we be more readily available to take on every day, include the new season of spring.
"Tis the Season For Shoveling and Low Back Pain http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/12/11/tis-the-season-for-shoveling-and-low-back-pain/ Wed, 11 Dec 2019 10:01:55 -0500
Statistically these are some riveting facts that plague so many people each year. Look at the following and try not to be shocked by this informationâ

Worldwide, back pain is the single leading cause of disability, preventing many people from engaging in work as well as other everyday activities.

Back pain is one of the most common reasons for missed work. One-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year.

Back pain accounts for more than 264 million lost work days in one yearâthatâs two work days for every full-time worker in the country.

Experts estimate that up to 80% of the population will experience back pain at some time in their lives.

Back pain can affect people of all ages, from adolescents to the elderly.

Back pain is theÂthirdÂmost common reason for visits to the doctorâs office, behind skin disorders and osteoarthritis/joint disorders.

Most cases of back pain are mechanical or non-organicâmeaning they are not caused by serious conditions, such as inflammatory arthritis, infection, fracture or cancer.

Most people with low back pain recover, however reoccurrence is common and for small percentage of people the condition will become chronic and disabling.

Worldwide, years lived with disability caused by low back pain have increased by 54% between 1990 and 2015.

Low-back pain costs Americans at least $50 billion in health care costs each yearâadd in lost wages and decreased productivity and that figure easily rises to more than $100 billion.

Â

After reading this, one might wonder what the best way would be to avoid such things happening to themselvesâ Well, look no further! Seeing your family chiropractor regularly can keep this dreaded lower back pain away and keep you moving. By removing subluxations (pressure placed on the spinal nerves from your vertebrae) you are already decreasing the likelihood of succumbing to such lower back pain.

So, keep your back in tip top shape and get adjusted regularly!
Cruise Effortlessly Through the Holiday Season This Year http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/11/05/cruise-effortlessly-through-the-holiday-season-this-year/ Tue, 05 Nov 2019 20:26:23 -0500
The time has come again where everyone is now in survival mode. Trying to get the last-minute holiday shopping done. Last minute planning for your holiday dinners. Running around all over the place chaotically trying to make sure every T is crossed, and I is dotted. Stress is heightened during this time of year which can leave us susceptible to injury as well as sickness and fatigue.

We often donât realize or in some instances ignore that through all this chaos that our bodies are giving us signals to slow down, breathe, find time to relax, and to recharge. Because we are in survival mode to get things accomplished under a strict holiday deadline, we can be our worst enemy because we let all these signals go until eventually the signals become so apparent that there is no other choice then to reflect on what is going on. Usually this time of year people are over doing it and are extending themselves beyond what is healthy. One way to combat this type of pressure, fatigue, injury, and stress on the body is to get adjusted by your regular family chiropractor. By doing this, your body will be more readily available to acclimate to the pressure and stress during these hectic times. The adjustment can balance the nervous system so that your adaptability is better, and you can flexibly take on the day with less external stimuli that can be causing your body harm.

So as you enter into this crazy time of year, remember that you can find help to keep you grounded and functioning at your best through chiropractic care.
Is Your Wallet Costing You Money? http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/10/09/is-your-wallet-costing-you-money/ Wed, 09 Oct 2019 15:28:17 -0400
Â

If you a happen to be a people watcher, take a few minutes out of your day to look around at all the people (mostly men) who carry their wallet in their back pocket. If you happen to be standing behind them at the checkout counter, you may even notice that their wallet is about 3 inches thick with cards, money, receipts, and an array of useless papers trapped waiting for their untimely demise into the trash can during the next âclean outâ.

In speaking with men that come into the office, we note that for many it has become routine to carry their wallet in their back pocket and usually it always remains on one side. Although it is the normal home for that wallet, what if I told you that it can be harming your health and inadvertently costing you money?

That is absolutely what is happening when a wallet is repetitiously being placed in the same back pocket for weeks, months years. When there is an unbalanced distribution of weight on one side of the body, it can throw off the entire biomechanics of your walk, your joints, your posture, and your overall health. Take the test of placing the wallet in the opposite pocket and walk around. Trying sitting. You will quickly notice how abnormal it feels to be on the other side. This abnormal feeling is essentially a subluxation in your lower back and pelvis which has shifted your spine out of alignment. If gone unchanged it can eventually cause pain in the lower back and pelvis that will end up costing you time and money to be corrected. At the very least a person who places the wallet habitually in their back pocket should at the very least remove it while sitting and driving, but ultimately the best case would to be to have it in the front pocket all the time.

So, the next time you think about placing that wallet in your back pocket, think again! It may be the root cause of your wallet getting thinner by having to pay for its effects that it caused.Â
Rounding the Corner to A New School Year! http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/08/07/rounding-the-corner-to-a-new-school-year/ Wed, 07 Aug 2019 09:30:36 -0400
Say it isnât so!! I am starting to dream of markers, loose-leaf paper, pencils, folders, trapper-keepers, homeroom assignments, clothes shopping, and most of all making sure I am ready for the hectic school year that will be commencing in just a few short days.

As the school bell rings back in session, coming with it will be all the after school activities like choir, sports practices, clubs, and the running around for what seems to be endlessly trying to keep it together each day for the next 9 months.

When all of this seems overwhelming, take a step back and think about the important things that fill your heart and fill your body with positivity. Make sure everyone is drinking plenty of water to stay well hydrated, make sure to be getting a minimum of 7 hours of sleep at night to properly recharge for the next day. Another important thing is fueling your body with proper nutrition. Keep plenty of healthy snacks to chew on in between meals and be sure to have balanced meals that are low in trans fats and high in fiber and complex carbohydrates. Lastly, be sure to schedule your appointments to see your regular family chiropractor. By keeping your spine healthy, you can be sure that you are functioning at your best so that everything continues to work seamlessly each day. This is done by removing subluxations (pressure on the nerves coming from the spinal bones being out of alignment) on a regular basis which will increase the signals from your brain to your body and keep everything connected at full speed.

So, as you jump right back into the daily ins and outs of the school year, enjoy each moment, sit back and watch as the year unfolds, and continue to stay the best and healthiest version of yourself.
Sizzling Summer Time Fun http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/06/28/sizzling-summer-time-fun/ Fri, 28 Jun 2019 17:50:01 -0400
Hot summer days are in full force. Pools are overflowing with kids and parents alike to ward off the summertime heat. We are in the thick of all of summertime activities such as grilling outside, soaking up the beautiful weather that has all flowers and trees in bloom, and taking those glorious day trips that fill our souls.

With all that is going on around us during the summertime months, we get wrapped up and busy with so many things. The days are long yet fast all at the same time. Through this disheveled chaos, we canât forget about how important our health is and how to make sure we stay that way.

One way to ensure we are doing our best to keep ourselves working and functioning at our highest and most efficient level it to receive regular adjustments from your family chiropractor. By getting your spine checked to find and remove subluxations (pressure placed on the nerves exiting through vertebrae that decreases the information being passed from the brain to the body) you are ensuring that your body can function at its highest level and the connections being made are at their very best.

So, in the heat of the summer moments, donât forget the most precious part of keeping yourself feeling and working at its best.
Springtime is Now in Session http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/04/12/springtime-is-now-in-session/ Fri, 12 Apr 2019 17:16:01 -0400
Have you witnessed your first sights of spring yet? Perhaps the appearance of buds growing back on the trees, or maybe tiny blades of green grass poking through the old soil? How about the harmonious sounds of the birds chirping and the sun shining through in the early morning hours?

Spring is quickly taking form and with it will be all the increased activities that will begin. Springs sports will start up, grooming your garden with those spring sprouts will take shape, getting back outside for walks and outdoor activities will soon flood our schedules.Â

With all of this in mind we should also remember that taking time for our own mind, body, and spirit should also take a front seat and get done to ensure that we are able to be our best. One way to do this is to get our spines checked regularly by our regular family chiropractor. By clearing the pressure that sits on our nerves from our spinal bones (subluxation), we are more readily able to adapt and function at our most optimal level. It will keep our bodies clear and connect so that we can fulfill each day with the best versions of ourselves. We can perhaps get more active, walk the dog more, play with our kids or grandkids again, or simply be able to give back to our community with filled hearts.

So as spring starts a new beginning for some many opportunities, letâs not forget about our own wellbeing too!
Don't Sizzle out http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/02/27/dont-sizzle-out/ Wed, 27 Feb 2019 09:58:21 -0500
What happens when you plug ten appliances into one outlet and turn them all on at the same time? ÂYou blow a circuit! ÂThe same thing can happen when you surge an unprotected Nerve System with stress. This is why we use surge protectors with our valued electronics, so we donât fry them. Our body is much more important then a computer â we only get one and must make it last a lifetime!

Picture your Nerve System as an electrical outlet with multiple stressors plugged in. ÂTurn them all on at the same time and POW â you overload the system, fry a circuit and ruin your good state of health. ÂChiropractors call this a subluxation. Depending on what nerves (or circuits) are blown, you could experience symptoms from minor aches and pains to more significant health problems like High Blood Pressure (Journal of Human Hypertension, 22,1: G Bakris, MD et al.)Â

Although it's impossible to turn off all the stress in your life, you can guard against unexpected surges with regular Chiropractic Care. ÂChiropractors perform their job like a surge protector â skillfully monitoring your Nerve System for overloads and adjusting the circuitsÂback to normal when necessary. ÂWhen it comes to fighting stress, nothing beats keeping your power ON with Chiropractic!
No Pain No Gain???? http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/01/30/no-pain-no-gain/ Wed, 30 Jan 2019 09:21:27 -0500
Healthy Means no pain right? Or does it.......?

Ever notice how when you stub your little toe, a little tear forms in your eye?

Â

Truth. We are aware of less than 3% of whatâs going on in our bodies. That means what we can feel through tickle, touch, hot/cold, numbness, tingling, pain, etc. is less than 3% of everything happening in our body. Unfortunately, most people rely on that 3% (symptoms) to tell them if they are healthy or not.

Can you feel your liver processing fat molecules? NO!! When you eat a donut, do you know how much insulin to secrete to store the sugar in your body? NO!!!

Â

There are millions of processes occurring in the body every second. If these processes are not working correctly, over time, disease will manifest. If we wait for a disease to manifest and try to deal with it at that point, it is invariably much more costly and difficult. The other option is to assure that our life energy is communicating with all the parts of the body, thus continuing to constantly create our bodies in a healthy manner. It is up to you to choose how you take care of yourself. Chiropractic is the most natural way to let that happen.

Â

Relying on pain to tell you when there is a problem is not a healthy way to live. Heart disease, cancer, diabetes and arthritis have usually been manifesting as poor physiology in the body for 10 to 25 years before they become apparent as physical disease.

Â

This is why Chiropractic adjustments are so important. They restore the communication between the body and brain since most times those misalignments will go unnoticed for days if not years.

Â

Health is all about proper function; 100% communication between the brain and the rest of the body; 100% physical, mental and emotional well-being.

Health is not merely âfeeling goodâ!
Walking in a Winter Wonderland http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2019/01/11/walking-in-a-winter-wonderland/ Fri, 11 Jan 2019 09:17:42 -0500
Snow Flurries, brisk mornings, seeing your breath, and enjoying all the fun winter activities associated with the winter months ahead are things that we look forward to as we wind down the winter months. It is a time where we can sit back, and watch mother nature unfold her true beauty either from home with a warm cup of tea and a blanket or from the tippy top slopes of the mountains. But there are some things that can prevent us from truly enjoying these magical wonders.

As the snow falls most of us will still be needing to get to our workplace, get our children to practices, and carry on lifeâs daily activities. It is also a time when many people suffer injury from shoveling and falls. With old man winter, there can come with it some heavy snow. Snow that can cripple your ability to move the next day and even be the cause of cardiac arrest. Keeping this in mind, always remember to lift the snow using your legs while shoveling, NOT your back. Be sure to wear your proper cold weather attire so that you can withstand the elements, and last but certainly not least get in to see your chiropractor.

With all the extra bending and movements, it is key to remind yourself that a properly functioning nervous system will keep you moving and functioning at your best. So be sure to schedule your regular adjustments to remove any subluxations (where your spinal bones are shifted and placing pressure of the nerves near them) from your spine.
Hop, Skip, and Jump You Way into Health http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2018/03/02/hop-skip-and-jump-you-way-into-health/ Fri, 02 Mar 2018 10:43:21 -0500
Chiropractors know that adjustments are good for your general health. Millions of satisfied patients cannot be wrong. But what do chiropractors know that the rest of us do not?

They know the nervous system is the one system in the body that directly affects every other system. This is because nerves conduct sensory information from every part of the body and then delivers this information to the brain. Once there, the brain analyzes the information to determine what the body needs to maintain a healthy state. So the health of this system is paramount to the good health of the rest of the body.

Chiropractors recognize that misalignment in the spine can interfere with proper nervous system function. More specifically, chiropractors study the effects of vertebral subluxations â conditions of the spine where alignment and/or movement patterns of the vertebrae are abnormal. When this occurs, imbalances cause irritation and inflammation to the nerve roots. In turn this can cause interference with information that is transmitted along nerves and spinal cord. Chiropractors are the only health care professionals specifically trained to locate and correct spinal subluxations.

As Chiropractors, our main job is to properly restore the function of the nervous system through gentle and effective adjustments. These adjustments are safe enough for newborns all the way to the elderly population.

So when considering how you cam jump start your body into healthier function, consider chiropractic as your first choice. It is natural, effective, and a sure way to give your body what it needs.
Love is in the Air http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2018/02/05/love-is-in-the-air/ Mon, 05 Feb 2018 09:47:03 -0500
February is a month notorious for LOVE. Finding first love, rekindling old love, loving on our friends and family, and loving our significant others. But, what if I said this month should also have a main focus on loving YOURSELF?Â

Â

Self love is such a great way to ensure you are feeling your best. Perhaps it is buying a new pair of shoes. Maybe it is splurging and grabbing a cup of coffee for yourself when you otherwise wouldn't. Or, perhaps it is loving on yourself by scheduling your first chiropractic appointment to make sure your body is functioning at its most optimal state.

Â

By getting regular chiropractic adjustments from your family chiropractor, it not only will help your nervous system function more optimally, but it will also balance out your hormones, particularly endorphins which plainly put, just makes you feel good.

Â

When a chiropractor checks your spine for subluxations, they are looking to find an area of the spine that is putting pressure on your nerves which either inhibits or slows down the signals between the brain and the body. By clearing out that interference, the body can relay messages more efficiently which helps all systems function better.

Â

So when looking for ways to improve your overall health and well being, don't forget that February is a month for putting yourself first, so that you can help others in return and share the LOVE!
Be Thankful for Your Innate Intelligence http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2017/11/08/be-thankful-for-your-innate-intelligence/ Wed, 08 Nov 2017 10:43:20 -0500
Picture this.......a series of unfortunate events leads to a cut on your finger. Did you start to wonder what inside your body was responsible for the healing of that cut? Or what about when you touch a door handle and 2 days later come down with a cold....did you stop and think about what was going on inside your body to help you heal?

Â

Within your body, millions of signals are occurring daily and all are happening at the same time just to keep you alive. Your heart is beating, stomach is digesting, muscles are moving, lungs are breathing, liver is processing toxins, kidneys are filtering waste, your immune system is keeping you healthy. ALL without you having to give it a second thought. If this doesn't amaze you, I'm not sure what will!! Imagine if you had to be aware of all these processes to make sure you stayed alive. Do you think any of us are up for that task? I think not.

Â

The way your body operates without any outside direction is called Innate Intelligence. By definition, Innate Intelligence is an inborn intelligence which is something we all have within us, from the moment of our creation until we die. Innate intelligence is always working; not only to keep us alive, but to also keep us healthy. Innate intelligence is always striving for a state of stability, to adapt to both internal and external changes and stressors.

Â

So, in the midst of the season where feeling grateful is in abundance, take a moment to thank your body for knowing exactly what to do and when to do it because there is nothing quite like that of Innate Intelligence.
The Spooky Facts About Subluxation http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2017/10/02/the-spooky-facts-about-subluxation/ Mon, 02 Oct 2017 11:45:15 -0400
Ghosts, monsters under the bed, gremlins, and one eyed purple people eaters may only exist through legendary folklore, but there is something quite scary that can be affecting you and you might not even know it exists.

Â

What if I told you there was a small, tiny in fact monster in your body that can be preventing you from feeling and working at your optimal level? That this tiny little gremlin may be robbing you daily of your fullest potential or what if I said this tiny little creature reeks havoc on your body every day that it hangs out without getting its eviction notice? Would you be more inclined to send it packing if you new that it could be affecting your overall well being?

Â

Truth be told, this tiny monster is called a subluxation. A subluxation is a misalignment of the spinal bones that puts pressure on your nerve roots which ultimately decreases the function of the nervous signals being relayed from the brain to the body and the body back to the brain. These disruptions can decrease the delicate balance of every cell, organ, tissue, and body part, which in turn can create dis-ease throughout your body.

Â

Through regular chiropractic care from your family wellness chiropractor, we can play a vital role in removing these subluxations so that you can be the best version of yourself, the healthiest version of yourself, and the person living life at its fullest potential. This can be achieved all by removing subluxation from your spine.

Â

So the next time your body is facing these tiresome ghouls known as subluxation.....get yourself checked and be sure to have a spooktacular day.
Tackling that Back Pain http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2017/08/16/tackling-that-back-pain/ Wed, 16 Aug 2017 10:04:40 -0400
Football is one of the most popular sports played by young athletes, and it leads all other sports in the number of injuries sustained. In 2007, more than 920,000 athletes under the age of 18 were treated in emergency rooms, doctors' offices, and clinics for football-related injuries, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Â

Some interesting stats in regards to the forces exerted during a tackle may surprise you.

On average, 4.56 seconds for the 40-yard dash -- can produce up toÂ1600 poundsÂof tackling force, according to Timothy Gay, a physics professor at the University of Nebraska and author of The Physics of Football.

Â

Although it is a fun sport, imagine what the forces from this sport are doing to an athlete's spine. With such forces being exerted through tackling and falls it can lead to subluxations (shifting of the spinal bones that applies pressure to the nerve root which decreases the function of the nervous system) of the spine. That decrease in function is not always noticeable, which is why it is pertinent to see your chiropractor regularly to make sure your spine is functioning at its best. When your spine has subluxations present, it can negatively influence how your body operates. It can decrease your optimal function which in turn can plateau not only your athletic advancements, but also impair the way your body handles the stress related to a hefty practice schedule and rigorous game play.

Â

So, the next time you are getting ready to compete against a top seeded team in any sport not just football, be sure to get you spine checked from your family wellness chiropractor to ensure you are at your best.
Baby Bumps and Staying Healthy http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2017/06/07/baby-bumps-and-staying-healthy/ Wed, 07 Jun 2017 10:11:28 -0400
Chiropractic and Pregnancy

One of the most important times for a woman to receive chiropractic care is during her pregnancy.

From the moment of conception, your body goes through a series of changes. Back, pelvic, and postural changes can cause unwanted pain and discomfort. The good news is, chiropractic can help!

How can chiropractic help?

Your spine is made up of 24 independent vertebrae that enable your body to twist, bend and move. It also helps protect the delicate central nervous system that controls and coordinates every cell, tissue and organ of the body.

Subluxations of the spine, occur when two or more vertebrae become restricted and impede the bodyÃââs ability to communicate with itself. Subluxations during pregnancy can be caused by the changes taking place in your body as it prepares to support you and your new bundle of joy.

Changes such as weight gain in the abdomen, poor posture and rotation of the pelvis force the body to unnaturally adapt to additional stress placed on the spine. These changes negatively affect joint function and nerve communication throughout the body.

Chiropractors are trained to locate and correct subluxations by applying a gentle, targeted movement to the bodyÃââs spinal columnÃââwhere and when neededÃâârestoring proper joint function and improving nerve communication throughout the body. Spring is here! It is a gorgeous time of the year when the snow has finally melted, flowers are blooming, and kids can't wait to play outside after school. Unfortunately, many of us associate spring with one dreaded thing that bog us down, make us feel groggy, and leave us desiring relief of our symptoms. Allergies.

Allergies are our immune system overreacting to an allergen. Why is it that two different people can be living in the same house, breathing the same air, drinking the same water, and eating the same food, yet only one of them suffers from allergies? To answer that, let's first examine how our immune system works. The job of the immune system is to keep you healthy by recognizing and eliminating bacteria, viruses, dust, pollen, and other microscopic debris from the body. How well your immune system works depends on your nervous system, endocrine system, genetics, diet and even emotions. When the immune system overreacts to a particular allergen, it creates histamines, which symptomatically present as runny noses and eyes, redness, irritation, and stuffy sinuses.

There is no cure for allergies. Historically, the orthodox medical profession has done a decent job trying to control the symptoms, which is not the same as curing the cause. Main drug of choice being anti-histamines which dry up the mucous membranes and help to control the symptoms, however can cause drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, restlessness and moodiness in children, blurred vision and confusion among other less common side effects. Many allergy sufferers are constantly looking for new ways in lieu, or in addition to their current medical treatment for allergies.

Chiropractic care has been utilized by thousands of Americans with allergies who often reported improvement in symptoms with regular care. Just like mainstream medicine, chiropractic is not a cure for allergies. Chiropractors locate, analyze and correct misalignments of the spine and reduce irritation to the nervous system. This in turn allows the nervous system to communicate better with the immune system and in many cases reduces allergy symptoms and improves pulmonary function. Speak with your chiropractor about how chiropractic adjustment can improve your quality of life!
Stomach Issues Holding You Back? http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2017/03/08/stomach-issues-holding-you-back/ Wed, 08 Mar 2017 09:44:00 -0500
Whether you’re suffering from chronic heartburn, diarrhea, constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or another digestive issue, you’ve probably spent more than your fair share of money on over-the-counter and prescription medications to alleviate your symptoms. While these drugs may provide symptom relieve, they do not treat the underlying cause of your digestive issues which may be stemming from a lack of communication between your body and brain.

Chiropractic care is extremely effective at helping issues related to digestion. Believe it or not, your digestive system is entirely linked to your nervous system, and your nervous system has complete control over various aspects of your digestive function. For example, the nerves in the thoracic and lumbar regions of your spine control the pace at which your body digests food. If any of the numerous nerves in your spine are functioning improperly, problems with digestion can easily arise.

Subluxations are misalignments in your spine that interfere with these nerves’ ability to properly interpret information. This can be related to the nerves responsible for your digestive system as well. As a result, ailments such as chronic acid reflux, upset stomach and constipation develop.

A chiropractor can safely and gently correct subluxations in your spine through chiropractic adjustments. This involves the chiropractor using her hands to gently guide your vertebrae back into their proper places. This will take the strain off of your nervous system and allow it to function at its optimum level once more, thus, helping your digestive issues subside. With chiropractic care, you may find that your symptoms are completely gone and you are no longer relying on medications to function.

So when your belly isn't feeling right, don't overlook your chiropractor in helping you achieve better digestive health. It is so much more than just neck

and low back pain. It is overall body health.

What Pillow is Your Game Changer? http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2017/02/15/what-pillow-is-your-game-changer/ Wed, 15 Feb 2017 10:12:24 -0500
Back sleeper? Two pillows or soft pillows tilt your head and stresses the muscles on either side of your neck that can lead to stiff necks, headaches, and even torticollis in the mornings.

Stomach sleepers

Although this position is generally scolded upon, it happens to be a natural position that we all have slept in. What if I told you the answer is contained right within your body!!!

Patients who come in with colds, sore throats, sinus congestion and stomach viruses often remark that their recovery seems to be accelerated by the chiropractic adjustment. Recent scientific developments now lend support to the idea that chiropractic correction of the subluxation can aid the immune responses of the body by reducing nerve interference.

This is one of the most exciting areas of chiropractic. More and more research is pointing to an immune system enhancement effect of the spinal adjustment. A properly functioning nervous system is better able to respond quickly to those pesky intruders that leave us feeling tired, achy, congested, and otherwise blah.

The anatomical and physiological connections between the immune system and the nervous system suggest that the nervous system plays a role in the modulation of the immune response.

Your immune system plays such an enormous role in the overall health of literally every cell and tissue in the body. Not only is it the immune system’s job to protect from coughs and colds but also it helps fight against cancer; repair damaged joints and slow down the aging process.

Don’t limit chiropractic care to aches and pains. Make chiropractic a part of you and your family’s wellness strategy. KEEP YOUR POWER TURNED ON!
Chiropractic and Wellness http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2016/12/21/chiropractic-and-wellness/ Wed, 21 Dec 2016 11:00:53 -0500
Chiropractic and Wellness

Chiropractors know adjustments are good for your general health. But what do chiropractors know that the rest of us do not?

They know the nervous system is the one system in the body that affects every other system. This is because nerves conduct sensory information from every part of the body and delivers this information to the brain. Then, the brain analyzes the information to determine what the body needs to maintain a healthy state. The health of this system is paramount to the health of the rest of the body.

Chiropractors recognizes misalignments in the spine can interfere with proper nervous system function known as subluxations. When this occurs, imbalances cause irritation and inflammation. Chiropractors are the only health care professionals specifically trained to locate and correct spinal subluxations.

Where’s the Proof?

Scientific research focused on the use of chiropractic adjustments for low back pain, neck pain and headaches. Now, there is clear evidence to recommend chiropractors as the go-to professionals for spinal pain syndromes.

Recent reports from the Center for Disease Control state, the four most popular forms of alternative and complementary medicine were listed as: natural products, deep breathing, meditation and chiropractic!

In a multi-nation study results showed that a number of patients experienced systemic benefits from their chiropractic treatments whether or not they mentioned any symptoms in these areas at the onset of care. The most common benefits reported in this study were breathing (27%), digestion (26%) and circulation (21%).

Adjustments were shown to decrease blood pressure, a leading cause for preventable death in North America. The study stood up to medical scrutiny and showed unequivocally that vertebral subluxations can be detrimental to the health of the individual.

From these research results, chiropractors clearly have a greater role in your health and wellness than just treating sore backs. Chiropractic care should be considered an invaluable tool for you to not only help you feel well, but to also help you BE well

.
Sitting the new smoking http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2016/06/07/sitting-the-new-smoking/ Tue, 07 Jun 2016 20:21:19 -0400
SITTING: THE NEW SMOKING

Long commutes, desk jobs, computer work, even a few hours at night spent on the couch can be very detrimental to your health and here's why:

1) Spine damage and poor posture. Sitting for longer than 20 minutes causes the discs in the spine to compress and lose flexibility, which raises the risk of a herniated disc. It also leads to weak muscles in the shoulders, neck and back, which affects posture and can cause back and neck pain.

2) Weight gain. Sitting while eating or immediately after sitting slows digestion. Slow digestion can cause constipation, heartburn, bloating, and weight gain over time.

3) Poor circulation. Inactivity leads to poor circulation, which can eventually cause blood clots, swelling, weak bones, varicose veins, and even osteoporosis.

Simply moving more frequently throughout the day will help combat these negative effects of sitting. Here are a few easy ways to get moving:

*Take the stairs whenever possible
*Park further away from building
*Move around at least once per hour
*Use a chair without armrests to sit straighter
*Walk on coffee and lunch breaks
Mind Over Mattress http://www.lifeisgoodchiropractic.com/blog/now-you-know-about-chiropractic/2016/06/07/mind-over-mattress/ Tue, 07 Jun 2016 20:16:44 -0400
Mind Over Mattress

I recently read a statistic that 60% of Americans would choose sleep over, umm... well, other activities performed in bed. Sadly, though, that is not the only potential result of a poor nights rest or uncomfortable mattress. Lack of sleep can also affect metabolism, immune function, mental well being, and, of course, your back.

As a chiropractor, I am frequently asked what type of mattress is best for a person's spine. I wish I had a "one size fits all" response for that question, but since I don't, here are a few tips in helping you choose a mattress that will allow you to get a good nights rest:

*Look for a mattress that conforms to the spine's natural curves. The best way to do this is to bring a friend to the store and have him/her observe your spine while laying on the mattress. If you're a side sleeper, the spine should be parallel with the bed. If you sleep on your back, there should not be sagging or curving in any direction.

*Make comfort your goal. Of the popular options (pillowtop, sleep number, memory foam, airbed, coil mattress, etc.), there is not one that is superior. A pillowtop may be too soft for a teenage girl, but perfect for an adult man. Lay on the bed for 15-20 minutes in the store to determine how comfortable it is to YOU.

*Make sure there is a return policy. Ultimately, the only way to know if you're going to get a better nights rest on a new mattress is to sleep on it. So, take it home and try it for 30 days and, if you're not sleeping better, return it and try another.
